JANUARY - MARCH 2009

In January we've elaborated and planned the activities related to the Social Assistance for Elders program for year 2009, we've selected the persons to be assisted and we've made all the necessary preparative : social inquiries, personal papers, questionnaires, evaluation papers, contracts, etc.
We also recruited and selected new volunteers, who were introduced to the Social Assistance for Elders program and after that the contracts were signed.
We started the new year assisting 8 persons, aged between 60-86 years, sick, lonely, some of them unable to get outside for years, and having an insufficient income for a decent living!
Through the activities and assistance mentioned below, depending on the specific needs of the elder ladies and on the possibilities of our foundation, we managed to meet their problems and difficulties, which led to an improvement in the quality of their life.
Sponsors' visit
In January we were visited by Mrs. Wendy, one of our sponsors, who supports us with great generosity, both on material-financial and spiritual-emotional level. Wendy wanted to meet each old lady we assist and she listened compassionately to their sorrows and joys, which touched her deeply.
We thank her for her time, patience and affection that she offered to the old ladies during her visit.
Selecting the new volunteers
Since our collaboration with most of the volunteers who helped us during 2008 has stopped (they are now in the 12th grade, so they have to study a lot), we had to recruit new volunteers and so we did, and we managed to reach the proper number of volunteers for 2009. The students from Emanuel Christian Highschool have offered their help and we thank them for this.
Monthly shopping at Carrefour
Each month we did some shopping for our beneficiaries, in value of 60-90 lei/person (15-20 euros). As I told you before, the persons we assist are quite unable to walk easily, therefore they cannot fulfill this need by themselves. Our care makes them feel happy and secure.
Food delivery
The food products were delivered at their homes by volunteers, so this need was also fulfilled for a while.
Spiritual-emotional support
At their request, we red from the Bible and prayed for them, comforting and making them feel secure. Trusting God helped them overcome the suffering they are facing.
Celebrating birthdays
For the same purpose of making them feel loved, we celebrated some of the ladies' birthdays, namely Mrs. Berger Eva, Palfi Elisabeta and Lacatus Ana. We gave them presents, flowers, sweets, birthday cards, pictures and they loved it.
Drugs delivery
Trying to relief their pains and to improve their health condition we asked some christian pharmacies to help us purchase the drugs for free. They agreed to help us so we are very thankful.
Celebrating the 8th of March
Again, we visited them and gave them fruit, sweets and flowers.
Walking outside
Since it's the beginning of spring, we braced ourselves, left "the loneliness alone" and got out to enjoy the fresh air and the sun, at the end of such a long, cold winter. The privileged ones were those able to walk alone : Mrs. Lazar Magdalena,Turoczki Rozalia, Cristea Irina, Bercean Margareta, Lacatus Ana.
Companionship
It is about those special moments that we dedicate primarily to the ladies who are unable to walk by themselves and are immobilized at home. We try to make them forget about their suffering and loneliness. On these occasions we gave them fruit and sweets, talked to them, listened to their stories.
House calls
With the help of our volunteers, we managed to visit them every week, staying in touch with their material-financial, emotional-spiritual or health condition or other events in their lives.
