AUGUST - OCTOBER 2008

August is the month when the stuff of Herald is in vacation. Still, our beneficiaries benefited even throughout this period of partial assistance, such as : the monthly shopping at Carrefour, home delivery of food products and house calls. These tasks were accomplished with the help of volunteers, who have developed a special relationship with the persons they use to visit and we'd like to thank them all for this.
During September-October we've assisted 9 persons : 7 fully-assisted and 2 partially-assisted. All these persons are aged between 65-86 and they are alone, sick and very poor.
Through the pictures posted here we wish to inform you about our work and also to give you the chance to know our beneficiaries. We also want you to know that only one person is involved in this program, helped by volunteers.Monthly shopping at Carrefour - we offered each assisted person
a package of food products in value of 60-89 lei (15-20 euros).Food delivery - these packages were delivered to the old ladies homes, bringing joy and a feeling of security into their hearts, and also a feeling of belonging.House calls - one of the few moments of joy for these lonely, helpless human beings is to see the front door opening and a person who cares entering their home. "Sometimes the loneliness is killing me!!", as they confess sorrowfully and that is why our visits are long awaited and bring happiness into their hearts.
Spiritual-emotional support - at their request we red from the Bible and prayed for their health and for the problems they face day by day, encouraging them to trust God in every situation.Companionship - this is the special time we dedicate to our beneficiaries to help them overcome the suffering and the feeling of loneliness, and so we listen to their life-stories, knowing that will help.
On these occasions we "spoil" them with fruit and sweets, which they love.
Visiting them at the hospital - at the end of September/beginning of October, Mrs. Bercean Margareta has been hospitalized. She was diagnosed and received the proper treatment and medical care that helped her recover and made her able to stand on her feet. While in the hospital, we have visited her, encouraging, comforting and showing her plenty of affection.
Drugs delivery - being very sick and suffering severe pains, these poor human beings are addicted to drugs. Despite the partial compensation of the price, the drugs are still too expensive for their low income. The pharmacy of Petros Clinic helped us to meet this need and we thank them for that. We also want to thank everybody who got involved one way or another, helping us perform our work.
Other types of assistance offered throughout this period are :- counseling-paying the
bills-cleaning the houses of the assisted persons-running errands (for Mrs.Gall Susana, Lazar Magdalena, Lacatus Ana, Bercean Margareta)-home delivery of the food products we received as a donation-weekly shopping All these services are meant to improve the quality of these persons' lives, to bring light and joy into their souls and to make them feel they are not alone in this world.
